描述

Desmosterol 是 Bloch 途径中胆固醇的前体，酶 24-脱氢胆固醇还原酶催化这一步骤。去甾醇在 24-脱氢胆固醇还原酶受损期间积累，从而导致去甾醇中毒。 Desmosterol 是一种肝 X 受体 (LXR) 激动剂。它是治疗神经退行性疾病的潜在治疗靶点。地甾醇调节巨噬细胞中的炎症信号。
