天然存在于十字花科中的植物化学物质 indole-3-carbinol 的酸催化反应产物。它起到抗肿瘤剂的作用。这种衍生物既可以在相对较高的浓度下直接刺激细胞凋亡，又可以使 TRAIL 诱导的人类癌细胞凋亡敏感。 DIM 通过包括增加 p21 表达的机制诱导人乳腺癌 MCF-7 细胞中的 G1 细胞周期停滞。 DIM 是一种强线粒体 H+-ATPase 抑制剂。 DIM 及其衍生物作为一种新型植物生长促进剂的功能已在生态友好型系统中进行了研究。
