描述

吖啶橙 (AO) 是一种具有两种不同染色特性的荧光染料。在固定组织中，它充当异染色质染料并对 DNA（绿色）和 RNA（橙色）进行差异染色。但是，在活细胞中，它充当 pH 指示剂，在酸性条件下会产生明亮的橙红色。 AO 已被用于鉴定果蝇胚胎中的凋亡细胞。吖啶橙染色法已被用于在微核测试中提供更一致的数据。
